What is vision in life and why is it important ?

The poorest man is not He who is without a cent but he without a vision .

Vision, life purpose, and dreams are three different things that are usually confused with one another.

What is the difference between Vision, purpose, and dreams?

Life purpose is the reason you were put into this world. If you decide to follow your passions, they will lead you straight to your purpose. And there is no greater way to achieve a fulfilling life than doing exactly what you were put here to do. It really feels like the right space for you, things seem to work out almost naturally.

Dreams are things we really want to accomplish in our lifetime. We usually have many dreams that we want to see come to life. A dream is a really strong desire to accomplish something that means a lot to you and until you take action, it remains just that – a dream. Therefore to achieve our dreams, we set goals, these are small targets that we aim at from time to time to help us reach the bigger picture which is our dreams.

A vision on the other hand is what your life will look like if you are successful at accomplishing the things you intend to accomplish. Think of it as the big picture of all your dreams.

a dream with action becomes a vision

So how we have the connection; it all starts with a dream, then action to achieve the small goals, as the small goals are being achieved, we don’t stop there, we keep pushing for the grand prize – the vision.

Why should you have dreams and a vision?

In WHATEVER you are doing, you will not go far unless you know where you are going and what you are aiming at.

Langston Hughes once remarked, ” Hold fast to your dreams, if your dreams die, Life is like a broken-winged bird that can’t fly .”

It is better to be blind than to have no vision, much as a physically visually impaired person goes through a really hard time, if he has a vision at least he has something to get up for every day, something to live for.

Vision

If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough. Have dreams that don’t let you hit snooze anymore. Dreams that will carry you off your feet once you achieve them.

Don’t set your dreams to bear minimum because that is what you can afford to accomplish. SET your dreams so high there in the sky that if you fail to reach them, you at least fall among the stars.

If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you need to do is wake up.

J.M Power

And remember, dreams are not those that you have at night, dreams are those that don’t let you sleep.

Once you have a big dream, you don’t need daily motivation, your dream will keep you pushing. And it’s okay to have bad days, everyone has those every once in a while.

I was once very bothered by stress and not feeling my best on most days and my mentor told me one thing I will never forget. I quote, He said,” Life is like the solar system, there are cycles, good days will come and so will bad days. It doesn’t mean that on bad days you should give up, Keep pushing the good days will come round again. ” ” On bad days, just do the bare minimum, eat, sleep, do what you can, and don’t feel bad about it.” He continued,” Those days too shall pass and soon you will be smiling again .”

It was then I realized, ” There will be days when all you can do is breathe and that’s okay .”

Just keep believing in yourself. Never lose the faith, and keep your eyes on the prize.

If you can dream it , you can have it .

The world needs dreamers and doers too but above all it needs dreamers who do.

A dream is a vivid picture in your mind that is sure to come true if you set goals and work towards achieving them.

Goals

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

Napoleon Hill

Goals are dreams that you write down and make a plan on how to accomplish them, you then take action to have them accomplished within a specific time frame. A deadline motivates you to give it all you have got, and also avoid procrastination.

One thing I have learned in life is that you can accomplish anything you want to accomplish in life, you just have to want it bad enough.

The problem is most people want to be successful at whatever they do but are not really willing to give it their all. When the challenges come around, they give up.

vision is all it takes
How bad do you want what you want?

How far are you willing to go for your dreams?

Decide you want to accomplish them more than you are afraid of failing at them and you are already half way there.

The greatest tragedy is not not reaching your goals, but having no goals to reach.

“The vision must be followed by the venture. It’s not enough to stare up at the steps – we must step up the stairs . “

Vance Havner

You must involve yourself and put in the work. They are dreams, not fairytales, they won’t happen just by wishing. Goals are only reached when the distance is traveled, they are going to require both hard and smart work.

Great teams have purposes, others have wishes, in life as in football, you won’t go far unless you know where the goalposts are. ~ Honor Books 1997

Direction is so much more important than speed. Some are going nowhere fast. Your efforts will be wasted if they don’t have purpose and direction.

Why you should write down your dreams, goals, and visions.

People with clear written goals tend to accomplish far more in a shorter period than people without them could ever imagine.

You might be thinking that just knowing your goals by head is enough but no. You need to get them down on paper. And then Look at them every single day to remind yourself of your destination. Every time you look at them, your subconscious mind thinks of ways to make them come true.

A Chinese saying goes, ” The faintest ink is more powerful than the strongest memory. ” So write down your goals, they will help you keep looking at the bigger picture.

Closing note

Life isn’t all about eating, drinking, and being merry. It is not about having a lot to live on but having something to live for. You would rather have one meal a day but live with vision. And one more thing, other people may not understand your vision, and it’s okay because God didn’t give your vision to anyone but YOU.

Above all have a vision

And for reasons only known to him, God has chosen to work through the men and women who are willing to make sacrifices for the sake of the ‘thing’ he has placed in their hearts to do .

Andy Stanley

If you know where you are going, and decide you will get there at all costs, nothing will stop you.

Let me leave you with the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, ” The word seems to make way for the man who knows where he is going .”

Enjoy the journey of exploring and attaining your life’s vision and purpose.

Spread the love
