Many times when we are facing challenges in our lives, we tend to release our anger and frustration onto other people. This comes to remind you to be kind. Everyone you meet is going through something they don’t talk about. People are out there are battling with depression, anxiety, heart break, mental issues, family issues, responsibilities older than them, financial crises, lack of love, loneliness , parenthood, sadness, adolescence, failure, fear of the future, loss of loved ones, and so much more.
Be kind
Just because someone looks okay doesn’t mean they are really okay, be kind. If you can’t help the situation, at least don’t add to whatever they are going through. We live in a society where people are afraid of being judged and therefore keep silently battling with their issues. Everyone you come across has a story to tell.
We sometimes admire to be like someone thinking their life is easy but the truth is if you spent a day in their shoes, you are likely to ask for your shoes back.
How to show kindness to others
There are many ways to show kindness to others, some through words and others through actions. Either is okay and the aim is simple, to spread love and to be kind.
Actions like offering a helping hand, giving encouragement, a hug or a pat on the back could go a long way too.
There are many words we can use to express kindness to others. Words like thank you, I am sorry, and excuse me, please, don’t cost much , they aren’t bitter and never blister the tongue yet they will surely send good energy on it’s way and you will never know how far the kindness you started could go.
Normalize using the golden words, am sorry, thank you, and excuse me in your daily life. They make seem small and ineffective but I promise you they will accomplish much.
Be kind through your words
If YOU WISH TO KNOW THE MIND OF A MAN, LISTEN TO HIS WORDS.
Chinese saying .
Words are like DNA and can’t be changed once they have been said, therefore try to always make the best expression with them. Usually it’s the words we say to other people that either make or ruin their days and even their lives.
A streamflow of words that doesn’t mean much to you may stick to someone’s heart forever, so please be careful with your words.
Never speak from a place of hate, jealousy, anger and insecurity . Evaluate your words before you let them leave your lips. Sometimes and most it’s better to be quiet. ~ Jony A Gascins.
Learn to control your mouth, don’t let it work faster than your like to.
And when you realize you have offended someone, please apologize to them.
I am sorry.
Let us learn to sympathize with others and be polite too. If you need a favor from someone all it takes is something like, “Am sorry for the inconvenience, am sorry to bother you” and trust that beginning with such polite words will surely get you someone’s attention.
Saying I am sorry usually isn’t the easiest thing to do. Whether you are the one who was wronged or the one who wronged. Each party feels that their actions and even words are justified .
Sometimes all it takes is ” am sorry ” to make up for something you did, and even save a relationship, regardless of who is right and who is wrong.
Apologizing doesn’t mean that you are wrong and the other person is right. Apologizing means you are mature enough to not let your ego get the best of you , and you are humble enough to let go.
When it comes to our day-to-day relationships, apologizing can be tricky. You need to learn not to apologize because you in the wrong but because you value the relationship more than you value your ego.
On the other hand when you know your the one in wrong, still learn to apologize, don’t take your partner for granted, be kind to them too.
And a true apology is more than just acknowledgement of a mistake, it’s recognition that something you have done has damage a relationship and you care enough and want it repaired and restored.
Sir Wilfred Grenfell said it best ,” Start some kind word on its travels. There is no telling where the good it may do will stop.”
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ~ Unknown
And when someone extends a kind gesture to you, does something nice for you or gives you something, learn to say thank you.
Thank you
Thank you is an expression of gratitude. I have a whole article dedicated to gratitude. Once you are grateful for what you have, you will surely get more of that which you desire. Learn to count your blessings and you will soon realize you have so much to be grateful for.
When it comes to relationships, saying thank you goes a long way to making the relationship more pleasant. One of the greatest needs of human beings is to be appreciated. And once you understand this and give them what they crave for, they will surprise you in turn.
No one loves to be around an ungrateful person. They drain the energy out of you. Those two words thank you may be small but they go a long way towards making someone feel better, loved and appreciated.
To everyone you meet, so long as they be of help, it could be giving you directions, offering you a seat, complimenting you, driving you, delivering to you a package, any help of any kind, learn to say thank you.
Everyone you meet loves being appreciated and complimented, no matter their political standing or how mighty they may appear. Whether they be the president, politicians, religious leaders, our parents, siblings, just name it. We all want to be appreciated when we do something worth while.
Get out of your shell today and do something good, for someone else.
If you can’t be a pencil to write happiness in someone’s heart, at least be the eraser to remove their sorrows.
- Kindness in words creates confidence
- Kindness in thinking creates profoundness
- Kindness in giving creates love . – Lao Tzu
Remember: Your words have the power to start fires or quench passion. The choice is yours alone to make.
Excuse me
Instead of knocking people as you go along, learn to ask someone to excuse you. Say Excuse me first to get someone’s attention and then go on to tell them whatever it is you intended to bring to their notice.
Being kind will earn you more friends than having money or success ever will.
Learn to be patient with others as we are from different backgrounds. We weren’t raised the same way, therefore what is obvious to you may not be obvious to someone else.
Be kind to yourself too
Above all, don’t forget to show kindness to yourself first. Talk to you nicely, no matter how much you think you have done that you shouldn’t and all the bad decisions you have made. You did the best you could with the knowledge you had at that time, DON’T get all beaten up because of past decisions or mistakes.
Be kind to past versions of yourself that didn’t know what you know now. That past version of you is proud of who you are becoming.
Don’t be nice to yourself only when you feel like you deserve it or are in the mood for it, do it everyday, everytime, and everywhere.
