Many a time in our lives we take life’s small blessings for granted and neglect to give thanks for those little things life has bestowed upon us.
Other times life’s storms come down too hard on us and we even feel we have nothing to be grateful for.
A famous song by Guy Penrod reminds us, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
Be aggressively thankful when it comes to living because no matter how bad things look, they could have been worse and they can still become worse.
Be grateful despite
Being grateful refers to the feeling of, or display of appreciation for something(s) received or done for you.
By practising gratitude, we open ourselves to a world of possibilities, inviting joy, love, and miracles in our everyday lives.
Ingratitude stems from the feeling of entitlement. Feeling we are owed more than we have but are we? Someone somewhere in the world died today, what did you do to earn being alive?
That’s right – nothing at all.
Therefore normalize being content and grateful. No matter how challenging or daunting your situation may seem, remember that it could be worse. You didn’t earn any of the blessings you have now, including your very life. So, be grateful.
An attitude of gratitude – Sterling K. Brown
There is an infinite number of things to be grateful for. Let’s just go through the list of some of them that are most obvious.
- The fact that you are still alive and breathing is something to give thanks for. That shows that God isn’t done with you yet.
- Your family right from your parents, siblings, spouse, and children, just name them all.
- The gift of invaluable friendships. Not everyone has people they can count on.
- Proper functioning body parts and organs. The number of people in hospitals suffering from various complications is not small. Give thanks because you are all well.
- The air you breathe. So many people are in the hospitals expensively paying for oxygen you enjoy freely every single day.
- And the list goes on…
Yes, you could have a lot more, but you could also have less – Be grateful.
The Magic of Gratitude
Gratitude is the great multiplier of life. Begin to think thanks, speak thanks, feel thanks for all the million little miracles life is offering you, and those miracles will multiply.
Gratitude for all we have leads to abundance in all that we desire.
Rejoice for the things you have and the things you don’t have yet will be added to you.
But if you can’t be grateful for the small things, how can you expect the Universe to send you anything amazing? Would you give someone more of what they already don’t appreciate?
I didn’t think so. Same goes for the universe. You will only receive more if you are grateful.
How a Little Thanks Goes a Long Way
Even in daily life, learn to appreciate people.
Don’t take people for granted, whether it be your employees, friends, parents, children, boss, religious leader, anyone. Be grateful for their little and big efforts and they will surprise you with how much more they will be willing to do for you.
A small thank you note might just be the thing that turns around someone’s day and brightens their mood.
William James once said, “The deepest craving of human nature is the need to be appreciated. Give them that and you can get them to do anything for you.” Things they wouldn’t have done otherwise.
And remember the saying, “What goes round, comes round.”
Give thanks and it will come back to you a hundredfold.
How to practice gratitude when depressed
It is easy to be grateful when life is all rosy. The real test comes when you are in hardship.
During the dark moments and trying times please remember that complaining, grumbling and worrying will not help your situation, they will only make it worse than it already is.
Instead, smile and give thanks for all the times things were better. Know that whatever the calamity and or its extent, it will come to pass for nothing is permanent. Hold onto the faith in your heart and trust that it will carry you through the darkest days of your life and before you know it, you will be out on the other side.
When life is sweet, say Thank you and Celebrate. When life is bitter, say Thank you and Grow.
How to cultivate miracles
Practising gratitude daily is one of the best decisions you will ever make in your entire life.
Close your eyes and smile – feel that gratitude with all your heart. Then go on to give thanks for each of these blessings past, present and future.
We have so much to be grateful for; the miracle of life, good health, clothes on our bodies, the air we breathe, sun, beautiful mountains, lovely oceans, mighty rivers, great animals, good food, breathtaking sceneries, flowers, sunrises, sunsets, modern medicine, technology and so much more. I can’t name them all.
And all life requires of us, humanity is to be grateful for all we have been given. Replete it all with nothing thankfulness.
Start counting your blessings every day and watch your life turn around in happy disbelief.
Gratitude – just like bathing is not a one-time thing. It only works as long as you practice it.
Here are a few tips to help get you started on your journey to an abundant life by harnessing the power of gratitude;
- Set a specific time to practice gratitude, that way it becomes routine.
- Get into a comfortable position, relax and think thanks.
- Write down the things you are grateful for (preferably in a journal)
- Keep a journal to help you keep track of all the things you are grateful for (Both those you have received and those you desire to receive.)
- If you are having a hard time coming up with different things to be grateful for every day try reading and making use of the MAGIC BOOK by Rhonda Byrne. It has some great ideas and a 30-day plan.
- Also, do more of the things you love. They will help lift your mood and show you how much you have been blessed.
If you can do this for 3 weeks, you can do it for the rest of your life.

Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I love it when people come together and share opinions about life. Great blog, keep it up.
